I love the Fug polls!

At my work, and maybe it's a lawyer thing, I don't know.. the older lawyers are forever talking about 'sanity checks'. I resent that it implies that if something is factually inaccurate it suggests that the writer is therefore CERTIFIABLE. Maybe I am taking things too literally and too personally.

Maybe.

But can't people just say 'hey, let's double check this' or 'spell check this' or something. As if lunacy is needs a check anyway. Crazy is as crazy does, if I'm crazy you'll JUST KNOW. You won't be checking.

If in ten years time I am one of those old drones saying 'can you get so and so to SANITY CHECK this' I apologise in advance. They got me.

Until then, I'm pretty pleased to say that my vote went the same way that everyone else who cares about what Rachel Taylor did to her hair and her dress voted. That's 45%. I love having votes in common with people. About important things you know. Like strange black dresses with odd see through panels and wet looking hair that you JUST KNOW took ages to make it look freshly watered but not dripping sodding wet. I do like her hair like that, but probably not something I'd get away with. I don't have people who would appreciate the kind of effort that kind of thing takes.

I should never have champagne on a Sunday night left to my own devices whilst on #GoFugYourself.

This just showed up in my stash of new goodies! How adorable! It combines all my favourite features like man-style shirt, kooky prints and pastel hues. So brilliant for a Friday at the office in the summertime followed by evening Gin&CucumberTonics at an outdoor bar in Sydney.
Am still in two minds about what to wear this Friday for the not one but two 30th birthday parties. It's either my eccentric take on Diane Keaton's look or something chic and simple but in a killer colour like fire engine red.
May end up leaving it up to Sydney's weather as the decider.

Hola! It's the Australia Day holiday here, and the office is closed, so am merrily working from home.
Of a kind.
Meanwhile, I watched From Prada to Nada yesterday. It's a fun movie, although alot of people were up in arms over the amount of fake tan being used etc etc. I was far too into the cat eyeglasses Camilla Belle wore in the film to worry about tanning shades.
And Cam's eyebrows.
I have ALWAYS really liked her eyebrows. How better for you to see what I mean than this image of Cam wearing PURPLE (tick) SEQUINS (tick) with FANTASTIC EYEBROW DEFINITION (tick).
I find the older I get the more important it is for me to have my brows defined over and above anything, yes even more important than mascara. I've tried pencils, brow gel, powder, those fancy pot/brush combos from Laura Mercier. Recently I've been using a powder + brush combo, which makes for a more subtle effect for me, however, watching the movie yesterday with Cam's eyebrows making a cameo appearance (please don't groan, ok groan if you must) I'm thinking of spending more time (than ever) on the brow defining.
To go with some cats eye glasses.
I just love watching movies that have been out in the ether for ages but only just picking and choosing some style ideas. I guess, it's a good indicator of the longevity of the thing.

I've had about 2 litres of coffee today, so in case it doesn't seem clear at the end of this post, I think girlfriend here looks GREAT. Just like a very tan (of course) ray of sunshine.

Remember all those times I prattled on about bright colours? Well well well. What have we here. Clearly someone looked at the colour swatch and thought "I dunno, it's bright, but is it you know, POPPING?" and promptly doused the gown in sequins.

And rightly so.

(Is it sequins by the way? or is it that odd texture fabric that's kind of python printy? Let's say it's sequins until someone tells us otherwise)

There's nothing like a sparkling dress. Even if Maria doesn't already get her teeth whitened, I'd be HAPPY to bet my two new pairs of sequinned loafers that this dress would have made them look whiter than rice.

I wish I had this dress. I know I say this ALL THE TIME, but I'd wear this baby anywhere. Even casual Fridays at the office.

Note to self: discuss new sequinned shoes in next post, and buy whitening toothpaste.

The month long week.

How's everyone's January going? I haven't had the nicest time at the office the last two weeks (hence the absence).
HOWEVER, there's always a silver sequinned lining to pull me back. Like the Golden Globes! How fun were they?! I haven't been able to pick a fave! If I make a decision, you'll be the first to know =P
Meanwhile, I must say.. if I had this Dolce & Gabbana concoction in my wardrobe to come home to, I might not have felt so ESPECIALLY blue today.
Who could possibly stay gloomy when you're covered in sparkles!!?

Pack Your Bags

Went back to work today. It seems like I have been out of the office for donkey years however it was only... a week ago? Can that be right? Anyway, immediately found myself buried under an avalanche of yellow folders. My entire office is filled with yellow folders. Perhaps that explains the lemon yellow pants obsession? (see my post from yesterday)

Anyway.. I survived my first day back, mostly by fantasising over various handbags by Reed Krakoff (here). Have you ever seen such colours? Remember my not-a-resolution resolution from yesterday's post?

Happy New Year! Any resolutions? I don't like to make any resolutions, although one thing I will be doing more of this year is keeping my wardrobe filled with bright happy colours.
Like my lemon yellow jeans from Oasis that I completely adore! The only thing I find tough with coloured jeans is deciding on what to wear on top. It's such a statement already that I don't like to overdo it, unless I'm off to fashionweek in which case I'm all for piling on as many colours as I possibly can. But for a crepe-stop with B, it's nice to keep things relaxed with just a splash of gem colour on the necklace over an easy grey knit.
I really love this knit.. it's got this peekaboo sleeve like a semi cut off mitt that the thumb goes through. I'll have to get more pics of it so you can see for yourself what I mean. Perhaps when I get out my pastel pink jeans.

I got started on some major online shopping, I don't go in for the Christmas sales, but I always organise a nice big delivery of post-holiday cheer. Can't wait to show you what I got.
Meanwhile, B bought me a new movie (he always gets me loads of videos to watch since I don't tend to watch regular teevee. bless). It's Tamara Drewe. Have you ever watched it? Brilliant, and I'm only in the first quarter of it. She is so far a gorgeous anti-heroine. My favourite kind.

how was your weekend? I spent sunday afternoon at a cafe with B catching each other up on the last two weeks. then trailed home to start the wind down for getting back to work on monday morning.
I really like spending sunday evening doing something low-key, like watching Nigella Express with a mug of coffee, or catching up on my AFR newspaper reading. You can see my sunday was really good, as I got to do both.
What do you think of my Lacoste sneakers? I sometimes find that cut of shoe difficult to wear, esp with that pattern on it. But I thought if I was going to go patterned, I may as well go all out, guns blazing with a striped knit dress and oversized knit cardigan. The hat is something I picked up at a random market in Jakarta. Initially the girl wanted far more than I thought was acceptable, thank goodness she chased me down with a better offer. I was heartbroken at the thought of not going home with it.
The cardigan is actually B's but we both agreed it didn't suit him as well.

Groom's side or bride's?

Half of work didn't show up today. I am assuming they called in sick, had a sleep in and settled down to watch the wedding of Kate and William. I've since seen a photo of the wedding, but I didn't watch the wedding - the real one OR the telemovie.

Mind you, I can't wait to settle with a coffee and check out what all the guests wore, then think about what I would have worn.

For me, I always like to start an outfit with the accessories. How cute are these Loubs? I'm REALLY into navy at the moment, so they'd definitely make it into my wardrobe. And to go with it, this really sweet Anya Hindmarch Rossum clutch.

Indecisions, indecisions

The only decision I managed to make all week may well have been selecting the crazy acid turquoise nail lacquer I'm wearing this easter weekend. It goes with nothing and everything.

I did start clearing out all my laundry backlog, and it's occurred to me - I NEED a dresser. OR I need more shoes. We all know I need more shoes. But I do need to implement some kind of intelligent storage system before I get swamped by my knitwear collection. That would be less than ideal. Also less than ideal is navigating to IKEA by myself. I'm not a fan of driving in directions I'm not familiar with... one of the few things I'm conservative about. But I guess I'll take one for the team, for the sake of my shoes and my clothes. They deserve to be happy.

I always have a great night out with galpal Miki-cherie or Miki-sashimi as I love to call her. I'd had such a long week with loads of Court assessments for my advocacy subject. Both of us started off with massive dumpling cravings (mmmm dumprings!) and then a late night excursion through K-mart with me trailing around the dvd section with my little trolley.

Totally loved Mik's shoes that night..... and my black Zara dress which I think is the sweetest little black dress in my collection at the moment.

This last week was a tough week.. I'm grateful I get a break from things tomorrow. I'll be spending the day down at the law faculty. If the weather were any better though I'd love to head off for a good sunny patch of grass and do fake cartwheels. Who knows, maybe even a real 'grown up' cartwheel.

I'm loving the aquamarine and jewel green tones at the moment. The pics from the shoot should be up soon, pretty excited! xx

I don't know why rubbing St Tropez fake tan into my calves makes me sing Barry Manilow songs... but it do.

I really wanted to call it a night and just hop into bed with some Will & Grace episodes but then I thought "no dom, you owe it to everyone. mostly yourself. you look pale... me no likey."

Apparently there's a claim floating around that it won't get streaky. For me, that just means I had a licence to get free and easy with the stuff. It is all over me, and it's looking pretty brown on me from where I'm sitting. I was pretty lucky last time around that nothing got onto my bedsheets.

Methinks lightning won't strike twice in this instance.

That's not too much of a problem for me... the only thing I dislike is how easily it sets into my nails. I've scrubbed, but there's a hint of the been-gardening-since-the-70s-and-only-just-washed-my-hands-for-the-first-time-ever about me.

Fingers crossed a few coats of nail polish will sort that situation out!

Ok, I've always been obsessed with shoes. But the shares thing has been quietly hibernating.

And now I've developed the ultimate obsessions:

I just bought some new shares this morning, but I feel like I could really go a new pair of shoes too. You know how it is.

How was your weekend? Mine was great, I did lunges which for me is like taking vitamins. It's so yawnsville but it's so good for you. I did some other stuff too, mostly whilst hanging out in a onesie from Forever21 hehe. I love lazy weekends like that, it makes the Monday after feel so much less deranged.

It was a reasonably productive day for me today. Got some work done, put in a bid for some shares, went to the post office to return the ASOS dress, sorted out my timesheet, AND as if that wasn't enough, I started going back to private pilates reformer sessions. I felt so virtuous and full of good deeds. I wanted to do more. Productive things, I mean.

So. I tried out St Tropez tanning lotion. For the first time. One of my Sydney besties L gave me a bottle of it. And I never touched it until now, purely because I'm so lazy I don't even like brushing my hair.

Anyway, I slapped and slathered that baby all over me. It was BLACK. It was like slopping tar all over myself. Have you ever seen it? The bottle is so, you know, chic. And it sounds like a Barry Manilow song is just waiting to burst out of it...

Wait till you see what's inside! Will update you on how it goes in the morning. I've got a white bed spread that needs ruining.

Domestic goddessing

Feeling super guilty I didnt buy any presents for my workmates I set about baking these delish looking peanut butter and banana sandwich cookies.

Batch one has been decimated by my very enthusiastic taste testing family. So now I am gearing up to whip up batch two. I should have stuck to my own tastebuds!! Never mind, it's half the fun watching everyone enjoy the cookies.

The recipe is meant to make 36 cookies. I was clumsy and wound up with half that amount.

But I'm loving how rustic and gloopy they look. To be frank my sweet tooth isn't that developed so I like them without the filling.. But I do like how they look. Like down to earth macaroons.

As usual I had twelve gagillion types of organic wholewheat spelt flour but alas, no baking powder. I found abit of organic self raising flour worked ok.

As I get abit edgy with too much sugar, especially after having an iced coffee earlier on, abit of maple syrup substituted for sugar was just fine. In fact it smells great wafting out of the oven...

My flight to Perth to Singapore (long story, short story is we are cheap and it was the only way we could afford to fly overseas at the moment) is at 5 this afternoon.

So far, I am ON TIME as far as packing goes. Mind you, if I had to leave now, I'd be in trouble. Because I'm not packed. Or dressed. Or showered.

I did shop up a storm though on Asos the other week, and by stroke of genius alone, I had enough wits to have it sent to Singapore. Hah! Take that stingy baggage allowance. (20kg! mum has stuffed enough presents in my suitcase it already weighs that much without my toothbrush already)

I have been tossing and turning at night, from the insanely hot weather, but also because I just cannot stop thinking about popping these babies on and strolling around with them. I think I'd wear them to sleep even. I just love the soft texture and the origami style folds of the straps. YUM!

my new spectacles, to give me something to look forward to when there's studying to be done.

i love the shape, i have to admit it took me a few months to finally settle on this pair. I had been searching for ages for a geeky chic style and was about to give up when i stumbled across these. they feel pretty huge, but i guess i've always had smaller frames so i'm still getting used to the feel.

And after that, only 6 staples to realise that we were very very low on supplies. Including staples (fail)

Sigh.

Love the colour hit of bright fluoro yellow and the aqua though, don't you? Who says I can't see the bright side of things..

Found a really good recipe (i.e. I found it, so it's good) from my new friend (she doesn't know it) Janet at her blog here for eggettes, baby egg waffles that you can get off the street in Hong Kong.

No, no, no. I've just been binge shoe shopping at Witchery today! hah!

Why? Because I'm overdue, my precious sequinned ballerina flats are wearing thin. I looked down during this morning's teleconference with San Francisco, and watched in horror as a patch of sequinned leather fell off my shoe and plonked onto legal counsel's office floor. FAIL.

Is this true? Yes, dear reader. I never lie, only exaggerate. But I did reach down and press a stray flap of leather back onto my shoe, and hoped no one noticed the gust of wind as pieces of my shoe flapped around.

Seriously, you need to get new shoes, you say. Ah... I agreed, hence why I raced out of the day's second meeting and charged off to Witchery and got myself the following goodies:

I also got a pair of plain metallic flats... couldn't find a picture of them to throw up here. Now, before I get accused of being reckless, insane, and thoughtless, buying three pairs of shoes from the one store in the ONE SEASON *HORRORS* let me point out what I walked away from:

See? I was actually being super sensible. Although, if I were being incredibly sensible, I would have opted for these, instead of the latte coloured T-bar wedge (which I have OBSESSED over if you must know, which is odd, since I hate wedges, and I don't have an obsessive personality):

Yes, another wedge. Stop the madness.

So I made an executive decision, like Harrison Ford in Air Force 911 (that's 000 here in Australia), and went ALL OUT and got the latte wedges. Why get something that's versatile if it's got a wedge attached to it?

Also, the fact that the latte version of that shoe is sold out at Witchery pretty much EVERYWHERE* just spurred me on. I had to have it. So I could say I have it, and cackle as I try to press down flapping bits of sequinned leather back into my precious ballerina flats.

*By everywhere, I mean Chatswood - I only go to Mosman, Neutral Bay or Chatswood.. but just take my word for it ok. those things are SOLD OUT in store everywhere. and I guess I mean YOUR idea of everywhere.

Ironically, this post follows hot on the heels of my last post which was about, paying off my credit card, and only using it in non-shoe related emergencies. oops. don't worry guys. i TOTALLY budget for these shoes. so spend responsibly as they say in vodka ads xox

Don’t give up guys!! I kept paying it off week by week, and I was lucky, and just received a tax return that helped me with the last of it.

I’m still keeping the card for emergencies (no, not shoes) but I’ve reduced the limit to match what I’ve got in my emergency savings fund.

Thank god I gatoraded up today before training w brenny. After sprint drills we went for a "light" run from north Sydney down to macmahon's point up to milsons point and then back to north Sydney.. I hate public transport but I looked longingly at every bus that went by.
And now I can't feel my legs.

It has come to my attention (usually between the hours of 11pm to 4am each night/day – why can’t you sit still, don’t you have broadband or foxtel? We ARE technically under the same roof you know) that whilst previously relocated several metres to the left (who makes this legislation up? Don’t they think possums will WALK BACK?!), you have opted, disappointingly, at great cost (apparently it cost $$$ to shift someone to the left, to the left) to return to stomping around in the roof where I live.

Firstly, welcome back. Not really. I was just being polite. I don’t remember seeing a basket of muffins anywhere to say ‘Sorry about the noise. Just moving furniture back in. My son peed on your car, I’ll deal with the bill from the detailer. Cheers.’ Nada. How rude.

Secondly, who does your décor? I’m not offering but I have to wonder why the incessant need to rearrange things every night. If it’s a feng shui issue you needn’t fret, have you not seen how many crystals mum has got going on in the backyard? Trust me, between the dream catchers, the wind chimes, the jagged crystals (mind your step, those things are sharp) and pot plants everywhere, you are all set.

Thirdly, waste management. This is a BIG issue for me. And clearly, judging by the potato sized bundles of joy everyday, it’s also a big issue for you. I’m pleased to see you have no issues with maintaining a high fibre diet. I’m not so pleased that I can see just how high in fibre your diet is. When I went camping I was told to dig a hole and bury it. I don’t recall ever hearing at orientation that it was ok to go on the roof of a Volvo. Mother Nature loves your offerings…. My Swedish made Volvo with limited edition (now fading thanks to your son’s acid reflux) does not.

Also, your child’s bedwetting. I really do sympathise. I’m quite certain I did it into my 5th birthday. But if your birthdays are like dog years then surely your three year old (now 21 years old) is just too old. If my dog doesn’t go in his sleep, I don’t see why your son still goes.

If you disagree, well, we are all entitled to our own opinions (as long as they are the same as mine). Two words: adult diapers. Apparently I will be enjoying these too in my dotage as most women apparently find bladder control an issue later down the track., so your son needn’t feel embarrassed. How ironic since I worked so hard on my bladder control all these years.

That’s all I can think of at the moment. Obviously feel free to provide your feedback. I dislike anything perceived as criticism. Especially from people, pardon me, possums, who use cars as porta-potties. Nevertheless this is a democracy, not a cheerocracy as they say in Bring It On. So…. If you have any comments, just submit them in our letter box. The one your son goes number 1 on. And I’ll attempt to give a fark.

It seems like I always stumble my way back to all things kitsch during exam periods... once more I have managed to procrastinate and wade my way through the world wide web and landed upon these new don't-need-but-must-have-its:

Contact Lens Case (never mind I have spent the last three months browsing vintage spectacle frames - more about that later, long story short, I thought I'd wear my specs more and up my nerdy quirky quotient)

Pillow Cases (these are less than my stipulated 600 egyptian thread count minimum but it must be the Moccona Instant Coffee talking - mum switched to decaf, did I mention that? Again, long story short, the only things I can get my hands off that are considered stimulating in this house are Dad's cigarettes, Moccona, or Chai)

I can't wait till this exam is over and I can go back to wanting normal things, that I cannot afford.

And not just because it's GFC2 and I am going through a phase of skinflint like never before...which reminds me I SO need to just man up and order another supply of contacts.

My old old friend from high school got married this morning. Maybe I was hungry or my monthly was on the way but I teared up seeing Benny's smiling face.
Even the rain couldn't dampen the high as they released doves amidst a tide of bubbles.
Supposedly B and I will go to the gym before the reception... It's now 3 pm and the reception starts at 6 pm.. Maybe B had a time machine in the garage...if only he also had a cocktail dress in the closet for me since I have no idea what I'm wearing yet.

Run Forrest Run

It is no secret that I can't run. Not won't, CAN'T. I emailed B once to explain the factors that affect me when I get started:

asthma, heavy thighs, weak knees, lack of oxygen, weather conditions, thirstiness, weak bladder, stomach cramps, gravity, and finally, laziness.

So I took up Booty Camp. Not Boot Camp, because I don't like being yelled at. Booty Camp. That went well, although I couldn't stand the 5.30 am wake up calls.

And then I had the bright idea to start seeing a personal trainer, to get 'more out of myself'. I used to see a trainer, but that was 7 years and 6kg ago. Nice idea Dommynikki. I have never had to run so much in my life. And do lunges, then run, up hill, down hill, to the left, lunge here, squat there.

Every week I tell my trainer I will practice. And so help me if I don't learn how to run soon.

So today I trialled Couch to 5K on my iPod Touch. By some stroke of luck, I managed to find myself at the base of a steep hill everytime it was time to run. Thank gosh for a good playlist. My shins felt rocked at the end, but damn I felt pleased with myself.

Wednesday: work then private pilates reformer class with Raena (can't wait)

Thursday: work then coffee with Aren Kay

Friday: work then din dins with Leanne/MOH (she has a list of things to talk about, should I be worried? or better prepared? should come up with a 5 point plan to match her..)

Saturday: beach, I hope. and/or test drive jeep cherokee with B. and spin class.

Sunday: valentine's day and chinese new year.

I got 'booked' by legal counsel to work solely for her stream of work. not the one that hired me, the other one. According to her email title that is what she is, anyway. I said 'that's fantastic', and wondered when would she first tell me off. She said I needed to get 'up and running' and called out a long running list of affidavits I needed to read by Tuesday. She said there were terms that I needed to 'get into my head'.

It was Thursday afternoon when she did that.

Maybe I'll get a pop quiz Tuesday morning.

Am trying to read as fast as I can.

Taking notes, just in case this will be examinable.

So apparently, Korean tv dramas are super fun to watch. I have never had the pleasure to acquaint myself with them, so I am not the one to ask, especially when I cannot even cope with tv dramas in languages I can speak. Shameful I know.

Anyhow, I am SO much more interested now that I hear about this tv drama BASED ON A COFFEE SHOP! Just look at FRIENDS.. right, right? Although, strictly that was a comedy series.. which I still adore.

You probably already guessed, but the Duchess Tianbabes is going to be one of my bridesmaids.

I actually asked Duchess mid week whilst at work.. and had to wait an agonising three hours for a reply email (She is intern-ing at a scene straight out of Devil Wears Prada).

She replied back with the most loving email, and saying that she had already been drafting her bridesmaid's speech. I have never felt so relieved.. we always said we are to be each others' bridesmaids, but geography is such a worry. Especially for someone like me who worries so hard if there are not at least three contingency back up plans for Plan A. Except, Tian being bridesmaid was Plan A and I didn't have a Plan B let alone Plan C for that.

Oh spank me if you must for using that cheesy acronym, but this is a Public Service Announcement.

Happy days, I have secured myself my baby-faced Sydney bestie Leanne to be my MOH.

It seemed to be the obvious choice given that barely two weeks into the engagement she was emailing me Bridal Expo information, and so SUPER supportive of the fact that despite not knowing when/where/how I was having a wedding/engagement party, I insisted on spending ALL MY FREE TIME looking for engagement party outfits. Instead of doing uni work. But let's not sweat that minor detail. And no, I have not yet found an outfit, but have instead found several adorable DVF dresses that are HTH (have to have). And the uni work is due this week and remains, undone. Oops, I DIA (did it again).

Oh look, I'm a teenage cheerleader with all the shorthand expressions. Fetch.

But anywho, this is my gorgeous gorgeous MOH. And not that anyone was counting, super photogenic (see photo) and I just adore how sweet she is to me. We talk about anything and everything and bitch about everything else. I love it. Yes she eats so slowly and it drives me insane when I'm on the clock, but any other time of day I LOVE it because we always have so much to talk and bitch about. I have never met someone who spends as much if not more on Victoria's Secret than me. Or someone who can always quote verbatim all current interest rates on every credit card available in Sydney.

I finally got my full license: On my last day of unemployment before the new job, instead of doing any homework, I chugged over to the registry and paid $37 to take the last test. Bombed out (i'm incredibly bad at touchscreen - i am just happy i can manage an ATM transaction so this is not surprising), and paid another $37 to retake the same damn test. Passed that, thank goodness, but was completely mortified about failing. Then I had to pay another $151 to actually get my full license. I still look hideous on the license (on my old license, a bouncer once looked at it and said 'this does you no justice'). I'm finally a grown up!
I passed all my exams from last semester apparently. I checked on my enrolment screen which said pass for Financial Analysis for Transaction Law, Corporate Law, and Evidence and Criminal Process. I don't technically know the marks, because I haven't paid an outstanding library fine (did I tell you about this? it's a long story, tell you about it later). But I found out that I can just see if I passed or not if I just wait abit longer and enrol for the next semester's subjects. Suits me just fine, since I don't have the cash on me right now anyways, and I don't want to know unless it's AT LEAST a credit.
since leaving my last job, I have not thrown up or had non-stop chest pains. funny, innit?
I think that is all I needed to tell you, and obviously, I am once again, on the hunt for a tan that will last through to the next summer. I look better as a tanned brunette. True story.

I have always had a soft spot for anything Vince Vaughn, and I was overjoyed when Jen A dated him. Like, my two fave actors together? Joy. And then they drifted apart. Blast.

But anyways, this has been playing on cable and I just love this one comedian. And so delighted to see that on the day I have cupcakes to make for Leanne and Celina, and two presentations to draft for Monday, that instead I am getting numerous chances to practice my evil laugh watching clips like this.

The plan

So as part of our new year, B and I said we would commit to healthy eating and living.. in theory we would automatically lose some weight. You know, as we aren't getting any younger.. I'm 2010 - 1982 years old which is, like, 135 or something like that. Ouch.

Sigh. I remember when I turned 20 and was upset I would no longer be in my teens. Idiot, I should have known there are worse things. Like, no longer fitting into your Sass & Bides. Kids can be so dumb.

So, apparently, B used to have this like twenty pack blah blah blah. I say, let me know when it shows up.

I went through a phase of being so slim and toned, I was literally in a bikini all the time. And then I met B, and I lasted about a year, until I had to get a real job and it was goodbye 24hr gym/beach/swim sessions. Working in retail gave me the best legs, plus all that running around shopping as quickly as I could on my break did such a good thing to my butt.

Now I have to do lunges and squats to get anything happening. Ugh.

Where was I? Right, so we said we would eat healthy, drink less, exercise more. Nice and vague.

So how are we going?

Let's start with B (not that it is a competition, but if it was, I would want to be winning).

He is still my gym buddy and plays sports. good.

His work has signed his whole team up for bootcamp (ugh, I can't afford that but I don't like it anyway. It combines being yelled at and doing lunges and sprints. Yuck.) I'm like 65% happy that he is getting more exercise opportunities, but like 35% worried this may put him in the lead of our non-competition that I want to win.

He is still drinking coke like it's refreshing from time to time. Hah.

And piles on so much nutella on his sunday toast I worry it will dissolve before lift-off from the plate. Jams and spreads are for amateurs.

We went for Italian one saturday night, and I ordered a ton of salad to go with our pasta. All very yummy and nutritious etc etc. B then poured the oil from the garlic prawns onto his garlic bread... delicious I'm sure, but ??? It's like he thinks that sauce/condiments don't contain calories or have any fat content. I let him order desert since he is Mr Gelato Maniac. He ordered some chocolate sundae thing, and proceeded to chow down the cream next to the ice cream. I didn't have the heart to tell him that whipped cream is the reason why the average woman is size 14-16 in so many countries.

Oh dear.

Me?

Well, I said I would drink once a month, exercise as much as possible, and stop eating carbs at night. Sure.

I have since adjusted this to drink once a fortnight, exercise whenever I can, and eating as little carbs as possible at night. I think this is still fair, and then I'll adjust it once I get used to being slightly hungry all the time.

But on the plus, I had my first private pilates class on the reformer/allegro machine thing. I had my session on Thursday night, it is now Saturday, and my entire ribcage/abs hurt when I laugh/sneeze/cough/breathe. My thighs are screaming. My calves vomit when I walk. I LOVE it!

But so darn expensive. Not good, when, I have Leanne and Celly coming over today to the Casa for some Rose and some seafood and I have about $8 to whip up some salsa and salad...

So far we have made it to Day 23 of the new year without any huge hiccups.

So hungry.

Sigh.

My ass hurts.

i just am not one of those girls who has the patience to sit there and just take a bajillion photos of the rock (don't be fooled by the rocks that i got, i'm still jenny from the block, haha, sorry, been DYING to do that)... i do get distracted by how shiny it is like a magpie though.

anywho, this is almost what it looks like, the diamonds down the side on my ring are round brilliant cut. like this

B did such a good job, super proud of him. Although that doesn't seem necessary since he has been giving himself so many pats on the back mine hardly seem relevant.

so, what's new with you?

since we last chatted, my laptop died, and i apparently did not see the 'do not resuscitate' toetag it had snuck on itself. i had about twelve nervous breakdowns - all due to work, and how much i disliked it. i got a new job which starts, oh this wednesday, as a paralegal (how fancy!) and am not employed for the next two days (but nil sunshine to be seen). oh what else.. i got a MacBook (just the baby sized one in 13 inches as i am after all, temporarily unemployed and LITERALLY between jobs). hence why i am now back online, instead of struggling with my little ipod touch, which is adorable, but painstaking to use for msn with the Duchess.

ps i got engaged on New Year's. what's that? oh yes, the ring is fabulous. i love it. i keep checking it's there in case this is all an incredibly elaborate dream sequence and i am not in fact bethrothed with said humongous diamond ring. so far, so good. yay!

tell you more about it next time. i spy sunshine, off for a tan.
